Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Washougal is a wonderful place to live, I want to keep it that way. Our city government must remain responsive to the needs of the citizens, whether it is input on renaming streets, the E Street improvement, or building code enforcement.
Proper government has only the authority which could be delegated to it by its constituents. Any action taken by government must conform to this standard.
Proper government at all levels must remain the servant of a free people, not its master. However, we should be careful to keep clear the distinction between appropriately delegated service (of roads, sewer, water, etc) and benefactor (giving other people's money for personal gain). If we forget the distinction, we are likely to become servants of the ever-growing government rather than the other way around.
I am honored to serve my neighbors and my community.
Sincerely,
Michael Delavar

PS. Check out the Vote Statements drop-down menu of my website. In case you were not able to make it to a city council session, these are statements that I make indicating my position of current topics before the council. Thanks. --MD |
