Mr. Mayor,

Tonight, I am pleased to sponsor this repealing and clean up of some garbage code. When I first joined the Council one year ago, a constituent mentioned to me that this code seemed to be significantly out of date. Of course, I agreed with the gentleman, but what I found fascinating was that he had read through our municipal code. For some, the law is important. In a nation of laws, the code itself informs us of our principles and shared goals.

In a more general sense, one goal I have on the Council is to repeal more laws than I pass. Today, the clean up of the garbage code is one small step towards that goal.
